As a student, Zuzana fell in love with her college PE professor Honza. At that time he was married to Adéla and had children Adam and Vilém with her. He divorced Adéla and she took up with Robert, who divorced Katka, with whom he has daughters Julia and Bára. Zuzana has no children, only now she is pregnant with Honza, but in addition she is looking after her grandmother who is beginning to suffer from dementia. All these people have to get along, get to school, work, dentist, clubs, rugby practice, food and not go crazy. And that's what life is. And so is Patchwork Family.

Petr NIKOLAEV

director

Petr Nikolaev (1957) drew attention to himself during his studies at FAMU, especially with Schopen - Odveden (1979) and Praga kaput regni (1980). For his schoolwork, whose non-conformity and freethinking earned him a suspension in his time, Nikolaev won the first ever Maxim (award for the best student exercise) in the history of the faculty. After graduation, he went to France, where he lived for almost nine years. He initially made a living as an ice cream vendor, poster maker, room painter, and babysitter. Later he directed educational programmes and taught at the private film school ESRA (1988-1992). Since 1992 he has been living in Prague again. As an assistant director he worked on French films shot in the Czech Republic. In 1997 he made his debut with a successful adaptation of Michal Viewegh's literary bestseller Báječná latata pod psa.

Lucie KONEČNÁ

screenplay

Lucie Konečná (1969) is a Czech screenwriter.

She graduated from FAMU in Prague. She has written a number of screenplays for Bachelor's stories and TV films. For seven years she wrote screenplays for the show Night with Angel. She wrote the screenplays for the TV films Nekonečná neděle and Kolotoč.
Her best known work is the series Ordinace v růžové zahradě and the series Ententýky, Weddings in Venice and The Harbour.
She has written the books Houpačky and Vířivka.

Viktor SMUTNÝ

Viktor Smutný graduated from the Department of Cinematography at FAMU. Right after his studies he started working with Czech Television. He participated in documentary films of ČT, for example in the portrait of Jan Kaplický in the documentary Profil (2004). He drew more attention to himself with the series Comeback. He has also worked on other commercial projects, such as the series Airport or Přešlapy. His work also includes other formats such as music videos (Xindl X, MIG 21, Jana Kirschner, Anna K), TV spots and commercials.

Zuzana MAZÁČOVÁ

costume

Zuzana Mazáčová works and creates as a costume designer and film architect in Prague. She studied costume design and production at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU), where she discovered her passion for all moving media and live theatre. After completing her Master's degree, she began working as a costume designer and collaborating with filmmakers and TV show creators.
Since 2012 she has been working as an independent costume designer and film architect. She has worked on projects of a wide range and type, from small independent projects to studio commercials and large international productions. She is always looking for opportunities to expand her work experience and further develop her skills in film and theatre set design.

Martin HOFMANN

Character: Honza
Honza is an attractive guy, a college PE professor and women's rugby coach. He has a friendly relationship with his ex-wife Adéla, apart from his sons Adam and Vilém. Honza loves Zuzana, his current partner, with whom he is expecting a child. But he doesn't have much time, he's either at college or on the field. And although he sometimes complicates his relationships, it is never too late for a happy ending, even with the help of his ex-wife...

Martin Hofmann (1978) graduated from high school and went to DAMU, majoring in drama acting, where his senior teacher was Boris Rösner. After successfully graduating from DAMU, Martin stayed in Prague and began performing in theatrical scenes. Nowadays he is a member of the theatre association Kašpar at the Theatre in Celetná.
Here he thrives and is cast in prominent roles. For example, Horatio the Pied Piper in Hamlet, Cal in Black Man Fighting Dogs, etc. He also makes guest appearances at the Viola Poetry Café. Here he can be seen in the production of A Party on the Seine.
He is also a guest at the Theatre Without Railings and the Prague City Theatres. He came to the attention of the audience thanks to his role of Jaroslav Hejl in the series Ulice. He was also seen in the films The Gingerbread Tower, The Curse of the Brothers Grimm, and Strong Coffee. Recent films include The Terrorist, Havel, and the films Prvok, Shampoo, Dot and Karel. He is popular from the series The Dwarf and The Bridge.

Kristína SVARINSKÁ

Character: Zuzana

Zuzana is Honza's current partner. She is now eight months pregnant. Every other week she is in charge of Honza's boys and she also takes care of her grandmother with the beginning stages of dementia. She would like more of Honza's attention and support, but he's either at school or on the playground. Sometimes it's too much for her...

Kristína Svarinská (1989) was born in Bratislava, where she graduated from a language grammar school and then from the Academy of Performing Arts - majoring in acting. She is currently a member of the DPM (Peter Mankovecký Theatre), which she founded together with her classmates after graduating from university. She made her debut in front of the camera at the age of eleven in the drama Rain Falls on Our Souls (2002). She appeared in Czech cinemas in the love drama Nevěrné hry (2003), in the war drama V tichu (2014), in the fairy tale Sedmero krkavců (2015) and in the romantic comedy Bezva ženská na krku (2016). She has also starred in a number of successful television series (e.g. Panelák /2008/ or Sestričky /2018/, Milenky /2018/). She is also involved in theatre and dubbing.

Eva HOLUBOVÁ

Character: babi Olga

Grandma Olga lives in the same household with Zuzana. Apart from the children, she is another member of the family who needs to be looked after....

Eva Holubová (1959) is one of the most famous faces of Czech cinema. In 1986, she finished her studies in acting at the Academy of Performing Arts, after which she was involved in several avant-garde theatres (Sklep, Mimosa), and then in the Divadlo Na zábradlí and the Milenium and Kalich theatres in Prague. She first appeared in front of the camera in 1981 in the film Daisies for the Lady of the Castle, but did not make a significant appearance until ten years later in Filip Renč's drama Requiem for a Doll. Her real breakthrough as an actress came in the late 1990s, when she was nominated for the Czech Lion Award for her short story comedy Knoflíkáři / The Knopflikers. Since then, she has been seen in many popular films such as Time of Debts, Pelíšky, Journey from the City, Pupendo, Elf, Gymple, Kiss Like God, Terrorist and many others. She has also starred in many TV series such as Pity of Love or The Waste Land.

Jitka ČADEK ČVANČAROVÁ

Character: Adéla
Adéla is Robert's current wife. She has her boys Adam and Vilém at home on an even week and Robert's girls Julia and Bára. They live in what was originally a garden house, which Robert is adding on to and remodeling. Adéla has traded her job as a tax expert for jam-making. She grows a lot of fruit in her garden, which she picks and processes. The children's coexistence is by no means peaceful; each has their own ideas about communication, food and order. In addition to the children, Adéla takes care of Zuzana's grandmother when Zuzana cannot. She is the type of woman who would adopt the whole orphanage if they would let her at home. She has a big heart.

Jitka Čadek Čvančarová (1978) graduated in 2000 from the JAMU in Brno, where she studied musical acting and performed in productions such as The World Around Susan B., Man of La Mancha, Grease and Little Shop of Horrors. In 2000 she was nominated for the prestigious Thalia Award in the category of Operetta, Musical and Other Musical-Dramatic Genre for her portrayal of Sandra in the musical The World Full of Angels, In 2005, she was shortlisted in the same category for the title role in the musical Nana and in 2007 she was shortlisted in the Operetta-Musical category for the role of Sukie in the musical The Witches of Eastwick and in the Drama category for the role of Eva in the production of Gazdina roba by Divadlo pod Palmovkou.
She has portrayed a number of characters in feature films and TV series. We could see her in the films The Painter, Mother-in-law and Smoked, Men in Hope, The Hourly Husband, The Painted Bird. Among the TV series were Chetnik Humoresky, Ordinace in the Rose Garden, The Perfect World, The Vintners, Doc Martin, The Bridge and Jellyfish Head, as well as many others.

Jiří VYORÁLEK

Character: Robert
Robert is Adele's current husband. He's a handyman, always redoing and improving things at home. He makes his living as a carpenter, and helps out at the stadium with the maintenance of everything that is needed. He loves Adela, even though his ex-wife Katka is chasing him....

Jiří Vyorálek (1974) graduated from JAMU in Brno, where for 7 years his home theatre was Husa na provázku. He played the role of Hamlet and the role of the Idiot in the stage tetralogy One Hundred Years of the Cobra by F. M. Dostoyevsky, directed by Vladimír Michálek. In 2007 he was nominated for the Thalia Award for the ensemble performance of this production.
Among the most famous films in which Jiří Vyorálek could be seen are the adaptation of Josef Škvorecký's Eine kleine Jazzmusik, the comedy Hrubeš and Mareš are friends in the rain, the drama Proměny / Changes, the comedy Men in heat, the thriller Vendetta and the road movie Rodina je základ státu / The family is the basis of the state. In the psychological film The Messenger, Jiří Vyorálek played a messenger, a former national cycling team member who finds himself in a wheelchair as a result of an accident. We could see him in the film Masaryk, Milada or in the fairy tale The Clockmaker's Apprentice or in the teenage film The Pack. Television viewers know Jiří Vyorálek from the TV series On the Bench of the Accused Justice, The Street, Private Traps, The Professionals, The Miracles of Life, The Cop or The First Republic. In the series Czech Century, presented by Czech Television, Jiří Vyorálek portrayed the character of Klement Gottwald in an exceptional way. In the series The First Republic, which also takes the television audience back to Czechoslovak history, Jiří Vyorálek played the hardened businessman Jaroslav Valenta.

Anna POLÍVKOVÁ

Character: Katka
Kate is Robert's ex-wife. Adele can't forget that she took her husband. Katka still loves her ex-husband Robert and believes that he will come back to her from Adele. She is subtly screwing around to get him back. And she blames him, saying that if he hadn't left, their daughters would have a stay-at-home dad and be more at ease. It's clear that Kate needs to find a partner to make peace. Everyone in the locker room is looking for one...

Anna Polívková (1979) is one of the talents of the young generation. After studying at the Prague State Conservatory she attended the Department of Nonverbal Theatre at HAMU. In 1999 she went to Paris to study at the International School of Movement Theatre.
Her first major role was in the film Restart. A year later, she starred in the film Participants of the Tour, in which she portrayed the character of Jolana. On television and on the screen she was seen in the films Return of the Idiot, I Woke Up Yesterday, Fairy Tales for Emma, Spindle, What Men Crave, Woman on Top and Mothers. She has also appeared in the TV series The Rose Garden, Pity Love, Up to Her Ears and The Protector.
