1950s. The communists have already taken full power in Czechoslovakia and thousands of people are fleeing their homes. They head for the forests on the border with the German Democratic Republic, but the road to freedom hides many traps. One is a fake border built by the secret police. And if they bypass that one, they could still end up in the hands of a serial killer.
In this roulette, the fates of three characters intertwine: a young, dedicated StB officer who begins to have doubts about his mission; a Sudeten German who wants to find his lost family; and a smuggler, a serial killer with probably dozens of victims to his credit.
Inspired by real cases from post-war Czechoslovakia.
